How to find us?
Interested in the environment? Want to
hear about local wildlife news in Oxford? Want to get involved in a
small but successful local conservation charity?
Oxford Urban Wildlife Group as a charity
is dependent on its members to support the vital work it does
whether it be by contributing physically with the upkeep of
Boundary Brook Nature Park or more informally by
displaying posters in a window. Without its dedicated members OUWG
would not be able to provide such a scenic nature park for the local
community.
Oxford Urban Wildlife Group holds
regular work parties on a Sunday at Boundary Brook Nature Park. It
is a friendly group, tools are provided (training too), choose your
task and pace, come along for some or all of the time. Bring old
clothes, wellies or suitable footwear, rainwear. We also have four
open days a year, and arrange for leisure groups to look round the
nature park
If you do decide to come to a work party
please ring on the day of the work party to ensure it has not been
cancelled through bad weather etc. Contact: Alan Hart 07979608013 or
Kathy Chicken 01865 770742. There is usually someone working at
Boundary Brook most days so, if you want to come at other times,
find out who will be there and when by ringing Alan Hart.
By public transport.
The easiest way is to either get the
number 1 Stagecoach bus or the number 5 Oxford Bus Company from
Oxford city centre. Get off at Reliance Way, where the old
Oxford Bus Company garage on Cowley Road used to be. Cross to the
other side of Cowley Road, preferably at the traffic lights and walk
down Shelley Road which is almost exactly opposite the bus stop.
Continue down Shelley Road, walk between the former Shelly Arms
public house and Halal meat grocery store, following the footpath
and cycle track which runs behind the shop until the junction in the
cycle track. Turn right at the junction, continue about 100 yards or
so and on your right at the end of the cycle track is the main
entrance to Boundary Brook Nature Park
By car
Drive to the Donnington Bridge junction
of the Iffley Road , opposite the junction next to the Balkan Lodge
Hotel is Boundary Brook Nature Road. At the bottom of Boundary
Brook Nature Road is Larkrise County Primary School, next to which
is a cycle track, the Boundary Brook Nature Park entrance is on the
corner of the cycle track.
