OUWG's Interesting links
Oxford Urban Wildlife Group has links with and is interested in other local organisations which are concerned with wildlife and some of the websites of these groups are shown below:
- Milham Ford Nature Park. ~ One of the excellent wildlife groups is the New Marston Wildlife Group. Their website explains the history of Milham Ford Park, which they have created in the grounds of what was Milham Ford School in Marston. They also have a stunning collection of wildlife photos illustrating the wildlife found there.
- Butterfly Conservation. ~ Butterfly Conservation's local group is the Upper Thames Branch which monitors butterflies and moths in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
- Berkshire Moth Group. ~ The Berkshire Moth Group is a friendly group dedicated to moth recording and conservation in the county.
- British Dragonfly Society ~ The aim of the British Dragonfly Society is to promote and encourage the study and conservation of dragonflies and their natural habitats, especially in the United Kingdom.
- BBOWT as it is usually known, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust, has had many links with OUWG over the year's. Over 20 years ago OUWG started under their umbrella - using their postal address, holding our meetings in their HQ and getting much valuable advice.
- CPRE Oxfordshire ~ Local branch of Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), which has been campaigning to protect the countryside for over 70 years.
- Friends Of The Trap Grounds ~ Almost the last remaining wild open space along the Oxford Canal.
- Friends Of Warneford Meadow. ~ An action group campaigning to preserve Warneford Meadow.
- Royal Society for the Protection of Birds~ The RSPB is the UK charity working to secure a healthy environment for birds and all wildlife.
- Barracks Lane Community Garden ~ A community-run green space off the Cowley Road in East Oxford.
- Shotover Wildlife ~ Founded to research and communicate the importance of Shotover Hill for wildlife.
- Friends of Aston's Eyot ~ Help manage and maintain Aston's Eyot
- Oxford Preservation Trust ~ Seeks to enhance Oxford by encouraging thoughtful development and new design, while protecting historic buildings and green open spaces.
- Oxfordshire Nature Conservation Forum ~ A partnership organisation of wildlife and conservation groups.
